Matthew is a Chartered Accountant now in retirement but formerly a partner in Ernst & Young LLP specialising in the taxation of insurance companies and is a member of the life tax working group of the actuarial profession. He is also a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of Worcester College, Oxford and treasurer of the National Artillery Association, a military charity.
